Kaleidoscope's popular Summer School is a unique opportunity for children to work with theatre, art and dance professionals. Everyone works together as a team to create and perform A PLAY IN A WEEK. This will be our 15th Summer School in Lewes and to celebrate we will be performing The Wizard of Oz.
Our Summer School is structured to boost confidence and develop creativity. We start the week with a huge outdoor treasure hunt to help break down barriers and encourage the children to make new friends, then everyone works in smaller groups based on their age - Infants, Juniors and Seniors. Every day we have a variety of fun warm-up games and activities, art work, dance classes, improvisations and script work. As the week progresses, the children develop scenes, choreograph dances and make their own magical masks, colourful costumes and stunning sets.
Older students are encouraged to work at a more challenging level, creating more elaborate props and scenery and taking on larger/more complex roles, while younger children spend more time playing games and they have longer breaks.
On the Friday everything comes together – acting, dancing, props, costumes, make-up, sound and stage lighting for a spectacular theatrical production which is performed in front of family and friends. To reserve a place book here.
