WIZARD OF OZ - AUDITIONS - Saturday 13th October 2018
Calling all Dorothys, Totos, Scarecrows, Tin Men/Tin Women, Lions, Wizards, Good & Very Bad Witches!!
Kaleidoscope are seeking talented local young actors to join us on an incredible journey along the yellow brick road - it'll be wild, it'll be whacky, it'll be somewhat surreal! This will be the premiere of a completely new contemporary adaptation of L. Frank Baum's original 'The Wizard of Oz', written by Kaleidoscope's Artistic Director, Deirdre Daly.
Set in Brighton, a teenager called Dorothy gets trapped inside her new Virtual Reality computer game - Oz. To get back home she needs to overcome various challenges to reach Level 10. She picks up friends along the way who help her defeat the Wicked Witch and find the Emerald City where she meets the great Wizard - Oz. In this contemporary version some of the familiar characters have been modernised:
Sam a homeless girl or boy (like the Scarecrow)
Ai - a human looking girl or boy robot (like the Tin Man)
Leo/Leoni - a cowardly boy or girl fire-fighter (like the Lion)
Auditions for all the main roles and the senior ensemble roles are available for 11-18 year olds. Just download and print off a monologue from our website. Learn it off by heart and rehearse your movement at home. Book an audition time slot for with Hannah@kaleidoscopedrama.uk, then come along to the YMCA on Saturday 13th October at your alloted time.
Rehearsals for 11-18 yr olds will be on Friday's after school and/or some Saturdays between 10-1pm. (We may be able to negotiate the times of the Saturday rehearsals based on your availablity).
We will put on four lavish theatrical shows in Lewes during February 2019 Half Term. All participants will need to be available for Dress Rehearsals and Technical Rehearsals in the February Half Term.
We are also seeking Cheeky Munchkins (Infants) and Naughty Flying Monkeys (Juniors) who do not need to audition - just book a FREE TRIAL CLASS in one of our weekly classes, or email Hannah@kaleidoscopedrama.uk
Anyone who gets a part in the production will need to join one of Kaleidoscope's classes and pay the fees for the remainder of the term. Most rehearsals will happen in our weekly classes. There will also be a Production Fee of £60 (or £35 siblings/low income families) which will cover the cost of a costume been made or hired for your child and all the extra rehearsals in Show Week.
It is quite a commitment to be involved in a large scale Kaleidoscope Show, but it is also an amazing, unforgetable experience. We hope to see you at the auditions!
